Case of study
Brilla College Preparatory Charter School
Brilla is located in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx, one of the nation’s poorest congressional districts. Brilla served 440 students during the 2016-17 school year. 73% of students were Latino, 2% were African-American, and 87% qualified for the federal free or reduced-price lunch program.
"Brilla's innovative approach to classroom education, paired with its foundation in Catholic school values, is helping to eliminate the achievement gap between Brilla students and their more affluent peers."
