Established in 1981, CLUES (Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio) mission is to advance the capacity of Latino families to be healthy, prosperous and engaged in their communities. Through a variety of programs and services, last year CLUES served 11,000 individuals in direct services and an additional 13,500 through outreach and events in St. Paul, MN.
CLUES’s impact in Latino community is served via four major pillars, these include: Health and Family Wellbeing; Economic Vitality; Educational Achievement; and Cultural and Civic Engagement.
For example in 2014, under the pillar of Health and Family Wellbeing: over 300 men learned parenting skills through The Father Project; 2,115 individuals received psychotherapy sessions; and 682 individuals were enrolled in MNSure insurance.
With a focus on Economic Vitality: CLUES assisted 1,437 individuals with employment services; over 2,000 income tax returns were filed for families with over $3.5M in income tax returns; and a total of 517 families attended financial literacy workshops.
In the area of education, 156 preschool students showed gains in Kindergarten readiness, 80 elementary students received tutoring and demonstrated academic improvement, and over 700 adults received English as a Second Language Services.
Keeping sight of the increasing Latino demographics, CLUES purchased a building next to their headquarters. Their future plans are to construct a new facility that will better serve the growing demand for programs and services in East Side neighborhood of St. Paul.
Another major accomplishment in 2014 was the addition of the Mexican Consulate Office in their headquarters as a tenant.
Finally, this summer CLUES CEO, Ruby Lee was invited to join the national board of National Council of La Raza and serve as a non-profit affiliate representative.
